SKS Postgraduate Medical Institute

SKS Hospital is accredited by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), New Delhi to conduct DNB training in the following departments:

  • Anaesthesia – 4 seats per year (2 Post MBBS & 2 Post Diploma)
  • General Medicine – 2 seats per year
  • Paediatrics – 2 seats per year (1 Post MBBS & 1 Post Diploma)
  • Radio Diagnosis – 2 seats per year (1 Post MBBS & 1 Post Diploma)

Admission is through NEET-PG (for MBBS graduates) & DNB-PDCET (for Post Diploma candidates) examinations and centralised counselling conducted by NBE. All departments are fully staffed with experienced teaching faculty and infrastructure. Students have access the latest editions of reference books and peer reviewed Indian and International journals from the Library. Most journals can also be accessed online through the campus WiFi. While the medium of instruction is English, out of state students are provided Tamil tuition to enable them to communicate effectively with patients. Rigorous academic training and adequate clinical experience prepares our students for the centralised examinations conducted by the National Board.

V.S. Educational Trust

SKS School of Nursing

VS Educational Trust (VSET) was formed by the founders of SKS Hospital as a non-profit organisation, in 1993 to provide quality nursing education. VSET has been running the SKS School of Nursing in the premises of SKS Hospital. Every year 20 students are selected based on strict academic criteria and undergo a 3 year program to make them qualified nurses. After gaining their diploma they then spend a year working at SKS Hospital to further fine tune their skills. Intrested students get further training in specialties as Operation Theatre Nurse, Dialysis Nurse, Paedatric Nurse and ICU Nurse to name a few. Due to the extensive hands on training and experience gained our graduates are in demand whereever they go.

Course Details

The course is recogonised by the Tamil Nadu Nursing Council (TNC) and the Indian Nursing Council (INC).

Clinical Meetings

Time: Every first Tuesday, 13:00 – 15:00
Location: Luncheon meeting at SKS Auditorium

Consultants discuss interesting cases and surgeries of academic interest amongst themselves and with post-graduate students and residents present. Post-graduate students also present academically interesting cases under the guidance of the faculty as part of their training. The meeting is open to all allopathic doctors and students.

Journal Club

Time: Every third Tuesday, 13:00 – 15:00
Location: Luncheon meeting at SKS Auditorium

Journal clubs help our post-graduate students and residents become more familiar with the advanced literature and research taking place in medicine. In addition, the journal clubs help improve the their skills of understanding while debating current topics of active interest under the guidance of the consultants. The meeting is open to all allopathic doctors and students.

Our Library is well populated with the latest medical books and subscribes to the leading International and Indian Journals.
