All National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) graduates are recognised to be equivalent and on par with the respective MD/MS/DM/MCh qualifications by the State and Central Government. The qualifications can be registered with the State Medical Council as an Additional Qualification. More information is available on the NBEMS website.

All departments are fully staffed with experienced teaching faculty and infrastructure. Residents will get exposed all manner of cases required for their training and also hands on experience with the latest equipment. The Department of Research functions to assist residents right from initially formulating their thesis all the way during their training period. Rigorous academic training and adequate clinical experience prepares our students for the centralised examinations conducted by the National Board.
While the medium of instruction is English, out of state students are provided Spoken Tamil tuition to enable them to communicate effectively with patients. Accommodation on a twin sharing basis is available within walking distance of the hospital, subject to availability.
Consultants and residents, under the guidance of their faculty, present academically interesting cases and surgeries followed by discussions. The meetings are part of the resident’s training and attendance is compulsory. The meetings are open to all allopathic doctors and students.
Journal clubs help our post-graduate students and residents become more familiar with the advanced literature and research taking place in medicine. In addition, the journal clubs help improve the their skills of understanding while debating current topics of active interest under the guidance of the consultants. Weekly journal club meetings take place at the departmental level.
Our Library is well populated with the latest medical books and has a subscription to the leading International and Indian Journals.
Residents have access the latest editions of reference books and peer reviewed Indian and International journals from the Library. Most journals can also be accessed online through the campus WiFi which extends to the hostel. When connected to the network residents have access to ClinicalKey from Elsevier (which includes Journals & Textbooks) which can be downloaded, and UpToDate from Wolters Kulwer (evidence-based Clinical Resource & Decision Support).
